Two girls from Mason County were chosen to the 2017 Class A All-State Volleyball teams, as voted on by both the coaches and members of the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.

Senior Madison VanMeter was the lone selection for Wahama, while senior Jessica Dalton was the solo representative on behalf of Hannan.

VanMeter — a four-year varsity starter — was a special honorable mention choice for the 5-22 Lady Falcons. VanMeter served primarily as a setter this past fall.

Dalton — primarily a back row defender and setter — was an honorable mention selection for the 3-19 Lady Cats.

Katie Frazier of Wirt County was chosen as the first team captain, while Alexa Johnson of Tyler Consolidated was the second team captain.

The Class AA teams will appear in the Friday sports editions of the Point Pleasant Register, Gallipolis Daily Tribune and The Daily Sentinel.
