ATHENS, Ohio — When the Chippewas couldn’t stop Ohio, the Bobcats stopped themselves.

The Ohio University football team committed four turnovers on Saturday afternoon at Peden Stadium in Athens County, as the Bobcats saw their three-game winning streak ended with a 26-23 setback to Mid-American Conference guest Central Michigan.

The Bobcats (4-2, 1-1 MAC) — who were celebrating homecoming — took the initial lead and clung to a 14-13 advantage by halftime. However, the Chippewas (3-3, 1-1) took the lead on the opening drive of the second half an never trailed again.

Ohio outgained CMU 350-to-317 in total offense and had three more first downs than the guests.

Ohio sophomore quarterback Nathan Rourke was 17-of-31 passing for 160 yards, while leading the Bobcat ground attack with 105 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries.

A.J. Ouellette posted 65 yards on 15 carries, while Brendan Cope led the OU receiving unit with 58 yards on six receptions.

A complete recap of Ohio’s 26-23 setback will be available in Tuesday’s edition of The Daily Sentinel.
