Meigs, GA compete in girls match

JACKSON, Ohio —Getting another match in — and gaining valuable experience at the same time.

Both the Meigs Lady Marauders and Gallia Academy Blue Angels competed in a quadrangular girls golf match on Friday, as they joined both the Westfall Mustangs and Vinton County Lady Vikings at Franklin Valley Golf Club.

Vinton County was the host school for the Friday four-way.

Westfall won the tilt with a team total of 213, followed by both the Lady Marauders and Blue Angels —which shot a 227 and 238 respectively.

Vinton County carded a team total of 248.

The top four scores counted towards the team total, while Westfall was the only club to not play with a full field of six.

The Mustangs’ Ella Seely was the match medalist, firing a 41 on the famed Franklin Valley front nine.

For Meigs, Shalynn Mitchell led the Lady Marauders with a 52, capturing medalist runner-up honors in the process.

Kylee Robinson registered a 55, followed by a pair of 60s from Mikayla Radcliffe and Caitlin Cotterill.

Olivia Haggy had a 61 and Shelby Whaley with a 63 were the non-counting Meigs cards.

For the Blue Angels, Macy Jones shot a 55, Bailey Meadows had a 58, Lily Rees recorded a 61, and Avery Minton and Bella Bonzo both had 64s.

Sydney Crothers did not finish the match, posting scores on just two holes.

Besides Seely’s 41, Elizabeth Hart had a 53 for Westfall — along with a 59 from Gracie Rowe and a 60 by Kayce Martin.

The Mustangs’ non-counting score was a 64 by Grace Pool.

Kendall Fee finished with a 60 to pace Vinton County, followed by Belle Lambert with a 61, Olivia Caudill with a 63 and Alicia Keeney with a 64.

The Vikings’ non-counting scores were a 65 from Shalyn Reffitt and a 68 by Liz Lambert.

The Marauders and Vikings also had a dual match between their junior varsity boys teams, with Meigs winning 241-259.

For Meigs, the counting scores were a 56 from Dawson Justice, a 59 from Gus Kennedy, and a pair of 63s by Bailey Jones and Austin Mahr.

The non-counting cards were a pair of 67s by Trenton Peacock and Griffin Buck.

Vinton County’s Brock Hamon had a 62, while Christopher Mason and Owen Salyer each shot a pair of 64s.

The Vikings’ other counting score was Ricky Body with a 69.
