Early voting to start

POINT PLEASANT — Mason County voters can take advantage of early voting starting Wednesday.Early voting in West Virginia is Oct. 22 to Nov. 1.During the early voting period, voters can cast their ballots from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Mason County Courthouse on the second floor in the county commission meeting room. Early voting will also be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 1 — the latter of which is the last day an early ballot can be cast. The general election is Nov. 4 with polls open that day from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Man arrested in stabbing

POINT PLEASANT — A Gallipolis, Ohio, man has been arrested after a reported stabbing on Saturday.According to the Point Pleasant Police Department, around 1 p.m. Saturday, officers with the PPPD and Mason County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the area of Ohio Street and Madison Avenue after receiving a call from Mason County 911 alerting them of a man being stabbed.
