POINT PLEASANT — During a recent meeting of the Mason County Board of Education, board members approved to suspend a Point Pleasant Intermediate School teacher without pay.
The teacher was suspended from March 14-18 on grounds contained in a letter from Superintendent Suzanne Dickens, according to the meeting’s agenda.
Dickens did note the teacher’s offense was not dangerous and the safety of the children was not compromised. The employee’s name will be released with the meeting minutes following their approval at a later meeting.
Like previous suspensions reported on in past editions, the employee’s name is not listed in the meetings agenda and the board of education can withhold the name and the offense. When a decision is made, the employee’s name becomes public information and cannot be withheld. The offense does not have to be released.
Following the approval of the meeting minutes, the minutes containing the employee’s name will be posted on the board’s website. This process normally takes around two to three weeks and will be reported on in a later edition of the Point Pleasant Register.
