The Mason County Animal Shelter currently has several kittens who are in immediate need of a loving home.
Roxanne, a Border Collie mix, enjoys listening to what people have to say and is one of the many intelligent, loving dogs in desperate need of a home at the Mason County Animal Shelter.
Nikki, a shy but loving Boxer at the Mason County Animal Shelter, is waiting on her forever home.
Lil Man, a Jack Russell mix, is the perfect size for his perfect person - a person he hopes will come along soon to adopt him at the Mason County Animal Shelter.
MASON COUNTY — Countless dogs and cats currently at the Mason County Animal Shelter are in need of people in the community to step up and provide them with homes.
This time of year the area near the animal shelter is busy with fair traffic and if only a fraction of these fair goers made time to visit (and hopefully adopt) a dog or cat at the shelter, it could literally save countless lives.
Right now, the portion of the shelter which houses cats, is full of kittens. Some of the kittens have just been weaned and still have their blue eyes while others are barely a few months old but all are full of love. When the door to the cat room opens, these kittens cry for someone to pick them up and show them attention and affection. There are beautiful calicos, tuxedos and tiger-striped cats and kittens (just to name a few) now available for adoption and in desperate need of that forever home.
The dogs at the shelter also come in a variety of size and color. There is a huge but gentle black Mastiff and a Border Collie mix named Roxanne who wants to give kisses and is ready to be released from her pen to play. Joining Roxanne is a personable Jack Russell mix named Lil Man, a shy but loving Boxer named Nikki and countless others of every breed - all of them in desperate need of a home.
Thanks to a Claflin Foundation Grant, the shelter has recently added an outside concrete pad and canopy to house several kennels, allowing the dogs a chance to be outside and potential adopters to be outside with the dogs in a quiet space.
The shelter can only keep the animals at the facility for a short period of time which means the clock starts ticking the minute the animal is taken into the shelter. Those interested in obtaining some unconditional love in the form of a dog or cat should call or visit the shelter during normal business hours.
The Mason County Animal Shelter is open for adoptions from 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. The cost to adopt a cat is $20 and the cost to adopt a dog is $25. The shelter depends on adoptions from the community to spare the lives of those who can’t save, or speak, for themselves.
