August ‘Yard of the Month’ winners named

POINT PLEASANT — As the summer months continue, so does the hard work of local gardeners and a new group of winners have been named the “Yard of the Month” and the “Business in Bloom” for the month of August by the Tu-Endie-Wei Garden Club.

Winning “Yard of the Month” in ward one was Wanda Jordan at 8 Walnut Street. Winning in ward two was Sylvia Casey at 906 Main Street. Winning in ward three was Robert and Patricia Allbright at 2106 Lincoln Avenue. Winning in ward four was John and Joann Sauer at 2110 Mason Blvd. Winning in ward five was Deborah Sizemore at 2629 27th Street. Winning in ward six was Bill and Peggy Crawford at 142 South Park Drive. Winning in ward seven was Barry and Catherine Hamm at 508 29th Street. Winning in ward eight was Jacqueline Blankenship at 1301 Meadowbrook Drive. Winning “Business in Bloom” was the Peoples Bank located at 421 Main Street.

As with the previous “Yard of the Month” winners, the winners from each ward are entered into a drawing for a $25 gift certificate to Bob’s Market from the Tu-Endie-Wei Garden Club. The winner of the gift certificate for the month of August was Jacqueline Blankenship from ward eight.

The next and final judging for “Yard of the Month” and “Business in Bloom” for 2012 will be held the last week in August. Concerning judging criteria, the only reported guideline is that artificial plants or flowers will disqualify the yard or business. Nominations for “Yard of the Month” or “Business in Bloom” can be made by calling Jeanie Brooks at 675-5801, Jane Coles at 675-2719, or Leota Sang at 675-3278.
