This year’s Community Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church and hosted by the City of Point Pleasant is at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 30 at Harmon Park.
The Community Easter Egg Hunt is a free event and one of the largest in Mason County with over 3,300 plastic eggs of candy and Easter baskets for winners in five age groups being offered to area children.
POINT PLEASANT — The hunt will be on for Easter Eggs next Saturday, March 30 during the annual Community Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church and hosted by the City of Point Pleasant at Harmon Park.
The hunt starts promptly at 11 a.m. for children ages one to 12. There are five different age groups for the event which are ages one-two; three-four; five-six; seven-eight; nine-12. Only those in the one-two year old age group may have a parent help them hunt for eggs. Also, any hunters of any age who are physically handicapped may also have a helper for the hunt.
When the whistle sounds at 11 a.m., the hunt begins in all age categories and is over when the last egg is found. Those who are planning on attending the event should come early to get a spot and be ready when the whistle sounds.
This year the Presbyterian Church has purchased nearly 3,300 plastic eggs, each one stuffed with candy. Church Member Pam Heib said volunteers from the church have spent a couple of months stuffing the eggs in preparation for the hunt. In addition to candy in the eggs, there will be additional prizes awarded, including a special Easter basket in each age group. The church is also providing the Easter baskets and prizes.
The Easter Bunny will again be in attendance for the event, visiting local children and making himself available for photos.
Heib said the church has been organizing the hunt for at least the last four years at Harmon Park and for several years before that at Krodel park.
Again, the entire event is free to the community and is one of the church’s outreach projects.
