Point Pleasant ‘Yard of the Month’ awards presented

POINT PLEASANT — The Tu-Endie-Wei Garden Club recently named eight local yards and one business “Yard of the Month” and the “Business in Bloom” for the month of May.

Winning “Yard of the Month” in ward one was Richard and Lila Purchase at 120 Highland Avenue. Winning in ward two was Louise Laudermilk at 811 Main Street. Winning in ward three was Charles Stansberry at 2202 Shore Street. Winning in ward four was Valerie Reynolds at 1908 Jefferson Blvd. Winning in ward five was Blyth and Jim Powell at 2219 Mount Vernon Avenue. Winning in ward six was Jennie Ashley at 926 Mossman Circle. Winning in ward seven was Pat and Shirley Brown at 3301 Robinson Street. Winning in ward eight was Patty Smith at 2814 Meadowbrook Road. Winning “Business in Bloom” was WSDA located on first street.

It was also reported that each month, the winners are entered into a drawing, and that winner receives a $25 gift certificate to Bob’s Market from the Tu-Endie-Wei Garden Club. The winner of the gift certificate for the month of May was Jennie Ashley from ward six.

The next judging for “Yard of the Month” and “Business in Bloom” will be held the last week in May. As far as judging criteria, the only reported guideline is that artificial plants or flowers will disqualify the yard or business. Nominations for “Yard of the Month” or “Business in Bloom” can be made by calling Jeanie Brooks at 675-5801, Jean Coles at 675-2719, or Leota Sang at 675-3278.
