POINT PLEASANT — As part of its 2012-13 U.S. tour, World Help will be presenting a local performance from the Children of the World International Children’s Choir.
The choir, comprised of orphaned and disadvantaged children from several different countries, will be performing at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, at Main Street Baptist Church, 1100 Main Street in Point Pleasant.
The choir represents a rich and culturally diverse set of backgrounds and experiences, each with an urgent story to tell. This year’s Rescue Tour calls attention to the staggering impact that poverty, malnutrition, and dirty water have on millions of children around the world.
Through the powerful medium of song, dance, spoken word, and creative media, Children of the World provides a compelling message of hope and opportunity, leaving an unforgettable impression with audiences across the country.
The children have performed in such venues as Focus on the Family, Brooklyn Tabernacle, Crystal Cathedral, and Disney World.
“We are delighted to present this acclaimed, high-energy group of children, and know their singing will be a ministry to the church and the community,” said Pastor Richard Sargent. “We look forward to their being with us, and know that those who attend will be blessed.”
There will be no admission charge, but an offering will be received at the event to support “Operation Baby Rescue,” an effort of World Help organization to rescue, treat, and restore children suffering from the effects of dirty water, malnutrition, and poverty.
It was reported that one in two children under the age of five suffers from malnutrition in Guatemala. In rural areas, 80 percent of children suffer from chronic malnutrition. Most malnutrition is caused by water-borne illnesses. Operation Baby Rescue is an initiative that provides life-saving treatment to thousands of children battling the effects of malnutrition in impoverished communities.
