POINT PLEASANT — The Point Pleasant Stadium Committee recently dedicated the new concession building at the PPJ/SHS football stadium.
The building, which is worth $150,000, was dedicated as the Holzer Health System Concession Building. The dedication took place at the recent home opener for the Big Blacks varsity football team. Though the building has been dedicated, it has not opened yet with some last minute plumbing and electrical work to be completed. However, organizers say the building will be open this football season.
During the dedication of the building, several members of the Point Pleasant Stadium Committee and boosters from the school’s various clubs (including sports and band), were present. These boosters pulled together to raise donations to complete the building.
The completion of the concession building was part one of Phase Two of the complex facility at the school. The second part of Phase Two will be in progression soon with the start of the new tennis courts.
According to Denny Bellamy, member of the stadium committee, a new wall to mount even more memorial bricks will be constructed near the football stadium’s entrance. These bricks cost $100 each and can be purchased by calling Ohio Valley Bank at 304-675-8660. Bellamy said these bricks are not just to memorialize people who have passed away, but can contain the names of current students, past and future school classes, past sports teams, current sports teams, the names of businesses, even inspirational messages.
Bellamy said all the money raised goes back into the athletic complex. There will be room for 300 bricks on the new wall with 100 of those spaces already sold.
