POINT PLEASANT — The early bird gets the worm, or in this case maybe the crown.

It’s no mystery that those who do not procrastinate are typically the ones who are always the most prepared and ready to go in any situation; such is the case with the Fifth Annual Miss Mothman Pageant.

It was reported the early bird deadline for entrants for the upcoming Miss Mothman Pageant is Saturday, Aug. 4. For contestants who enter by that date, the entry fee is $30. The final deadline is Sept. 1, where the entry fee will be $45. It was reported that late entries will be sent back. It was also stated there are special discounts for siblings and a mother/daughter entries. For two siblings entering, the cost will be $60, and with three siblings it will be $95. For a mother/daughter entry, the fee will be $60.

Having over 100 contestants in 2011, the Miss Mothman Pageant has several different categories that will encompass women and girls of all ages who wish to compete. The contestant categories and the respective age groups are as follows: Tiny Miss, two to four; Little Miss, five to eight; Junior Miss, nine to 12; Teen Miss, 13-15; Miss, 16-20; Ms., 21-28; Mrs., married women.

After all the entry forms are in, those in the Tiny, Little, and Junior categories will compete at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6, at the Trinity United Methodist Church Auditorium. Contestants in the Teen, Miss, Ms., and Mrs. categories will compete at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, at the Riverfront Park.
