ASHTON — The mother of the two boys who went missing and were later found near their Glenwood home last month has been arrested by the Mason County Sheriff’s Department.
Megan Hammack, 31, Glenwood, was arrested on Wednesday, April 4 by Cpl. Terry Powell. According to a spokesperson from the sheriff’s department, Hammack was arrested in Ashton, one town over from her home in Glenwood. The spokesperson didn’t specify whether she was taken into custody at a residence or elsewhere.
Deputies with the sheriff’s department have wanted to speak to Hammack since an alleged meth lab was found inside the home she shared with her two, young sons and reportedly a boyfriend. No one was home at the time the reported meth lab was found.
There have been no charges filed in the matter of the alleged meth lab found at the home, rather, Hammack was picked up Wednesday on a capias warrant for failing to appear on an unrelated misdemeanor charge, according to the spokesperson from the sheriff’s department.
Hammack was arraigned on the capias warrant on Thursday afternoon with Mason County Magistrate Gail Roush setting a $2,500 cash-only bond. Hammack was still in custody at the Western Regional Jail as of press time Thursday evening.
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said the case of the alleged meth lab found in Hammack’s Glenwood home remains under investigation. Last month, personnel with the sheriff’s department said findings in that case would likely be turned over the Mason County Prosecuting Attorney for possible, further action.
The next grand jury will convene in May in Mason County Circuit Court.
