POINT PLEASANT — A Point Pleasant woman who was arrested for possession of drugs entered a plea of guilty in Mason County Circuit Court.
On Friday, Moneka Michelle Minnis of Point Pleasant appeared before Judge David Nibert along with her attorney, Mike Eachus, and pleaded guilty to conspiracy.
Minnis was indicted by the January grand jury for three counts of delivery of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and conspiracy. She was arrested with Twyshawn Lamar Justice of Dayton, Ohio, and Jarron Yamonia Tabor (aka Jarron Yumonia Earley) of Murray, Ky., and Dayton.
The arrests were made last October when officers found more than $15,000 of drugs that included approximately 17.7 grams of heroin, 47.4 grams of crack cocaine and 7.1 grams of marijuana along with $1,068 in cash and three handguns. The crack cocaine had an estimated value of $9,500, with $5,300 estimated for the heroin.
Minnis faces 1-5 years in a West Virginia penitentiary and/or a $10,000 fine. She will be sentenced June 29.
Tabor is to stand trial May 12.
• Keith Matthew Johnson of Culloden had the terms of his bond modified so he could seek medical treatment outside the state.
Johnson was indicted by the May 2008 grand jury for breaking and entering and petit larceny. His hearing has been continued to June 29.
• Larry Wayne Love of Dayton made his first appearance in court after he was arrested on a capias.
Love was indicted by the September grand jury for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and prohibited person in possession of a firearm. He will be arraigned before Nibert April 23.
• Tracy L. Livingston of West Columbia was denied a motion to modify her home confinement sentence.
Livingston was indicted by the January 2007 grand jury for forgery, uttering and fraudulent use of a credit card. She received permission to pursue employment.
• Timothy Wolfe was denied bond and home confinement until legal issues in Gallia County, Ohio, are resolved.
• Jonathan Franklin Gibbs of Mason and West Columbia faced a jail sentence of one year with credit for time served and a fine of $500 for grand larceny.
He was indicted by the May 2008 grand jury for three counts of grand larceny. Nibert granted his requests for home confinement and to enter the day report program as well as to seek employment. He also is to pay restitution.
• Edward Michael Thacker of Point Pleasant waived a hearing for violating probation.
He received a sentence of 2-20 years for six counts of forgery with credit for time served. Five of those sentence are to be served concurrent, with the other consecutively on home confinement in Meigs County, Ohio, if accepted into the program.
Thacker was indicted by the January 2007 grand jury on 19 counts of forgery and 19 counts of uttering.
• A woman who was arrested on drug charges in New Haven waived her preliminary hearing in Magistrate Court Tuesday.
Jackie Lee, 54, was arrested March 24 for delivery of a controlled substance after New Haven police officers searched her home and seized narcotics. The arrest was the result of an investigation stemming from complaints of suspicious activity at an apartment at 109 Main St. in New Haven.
Her case now will be moved to circuit court, where it will be presented before the grand jury.
• A charge of nighttime burglary against Tessa Walker, 29, of West Columbia, was dismissed and another charge refiled.
Walker pleaded guilty to destruction of property, with Magistrate Gail Roush sentencing her to 30 days in jail suspended and six months of probation.
