Stone leads Riverside Seniors, first half almost down

MASON — Carl Stone remains atop the leaderboard in the Riverside Senior Golf League with 117 points for the year. Chet Thomas with 106.5 points is in second place with Mick Winebrenner and Claude Proffitt tied for third with 103 points for the season. Two weeks remain in the split season with the halfway cookout coming on Tuesday, June 30.

A total of 70 players madae up 16 four-man teams and two teams of three players. The winning score of 59 (-11 under par) was shot by the team of Steve Safford (Pt. Pleasant), Claude Proffitt (Patriot, Ohio), Tom Hoschar (West Columbia), and Ralph Sare (New Haven).

The second place score of 60 (-10 under par) was made by the team of Carl Stone (Ripley), Butch Bookman (Pomeroy, Ohio), Jim Gordon (Shade, Ohio), and Paul Jordan (Ripley).

There was a four-way tie for third at 62 (-8 under par).

The closest to the pin winners were Jim Turley on the ninth hole and Paul Roush on the 14th hole. There has abeen a total of 112 different players to participate in the league thus far.
