POINT PLEASANT — Four young women will compete for the crown during the annual Point Pleasant Sternwheel Regatta Queen Pageant.

The pageant is slated to begin 6 p.m. Thursday, July 2 at the Historic State Theater. The event will have a theme of “An Affair to Remember,” which will feature a montage of James Bond music and plenty of action.

Contestants will receive nearly $2,000 in scholarship money and prizes, and at the end of the night, one lucky Mason County woman will receive the sparkling crown and become part of the history that is the Point Pleasant Sternwheel Regatta.

The winner also will reign over the weekend’s festivities and compete in Charleston next January at the West Virginia Association of Fairs and Festivals Pageant.

The contestants are Lindsey Danielle Deem, of Mason, the daughter of Dorinda Deem; Meghann Hesson, of Point Pleasant, the daughter of Craig Hesson and Angala Anderson; Summer Denay Searls, of Gallipolis Ferry, the daughter of Randy and Lisa Searls; and Jessie Wamsley, of Point Pleasant, the daughter of Vicky Wamsley and John Wamsley.

Younger girls also will compete for the title of Regatta River Princess. The princess pageant, which features a “Both Worlds” Hannah Montana theme, is slated for Tuesday, June 30 at the state theater. The young ladies between the ages of 10 and 13 will perform a Hoedown-Throwdown as well as show their tomboy versus princess sides.

The princess pageant will feature 11 contestants: Madison Jewell Barker, of Point Pleasant, the daughter of Bill and Cyndi Barker; Brooke Bartram of Point Pleasant, the daughter of James Bartram and Kristy Pearce; Heather Morgan Bonecutter, of Point Pleasant, the daughter of Greg and Darlene Bonecutter;

Alara Breeze Craddock, of Leon, the daughter of Richard and Patty Lambert; Sydney Lauren Decker Crawford, of Point Pleasant, the daughter of Lori Loomis and Scott Crawford; Katherine Isabella Deem, of Leon, the daughter of Deron and Missy Deem; Whitney Layton, of Point Pleasant, the daughter of Dan and Amy Layton; Danielle Meadows, of Leon, the daughter of Danny and Nioka Meadows;

LeAnna Faye Nelson, of New Haven, the daughter of Rocky Nelson, Erma Stone and Timothy Stone; Erykah Roach, of Point Pleasant, the daughter of Jason Roach and Angela Roach; and Ariane Wells, of Point Pleasant, the daughter of Cassy Lee.
