POINT PLEASANT — It is once again time for the Mason County Fair Queen Pageant.
Pageant applications can now be picked up at Ohio Valley Bank and Victoria’s Prom and Bridal in Point Pleasant. Applications also can be downloaded on the pageant’s Web site, www.masoncountyfairqueenpageant.webs.com.
This year’s fair queen pageant is slated for 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10 on the main stage of the Mason County fair grounds. It will immediately follow the Little Mr. and Miss Contest. According to pageant officials, this year’s pageant theme is “Cinderella,” and pageant t-shirts will be light blue with silver lettering.
Pageant contestants will be judged by a panel of three judges in five categories, including personal interview, which is where each contest will talk to the judges. During this phase of the competition judges will consider poise, personality, grammar and appearance. Contestants should wear a nice business suit for this portion of the competition.
Contestants also will be judged on their fair involvement, community involvement and evening gown. In addition, the young ladies will be judges on how they perform in the events promotion competition, which requires contestants to make up a short speech promoting the fair.
Completed applications may be dropped off at Ohio Valley Bank, Victoria’s Prom and Bridal or mailed to pageant directors Aimee Stein, 12445 Huntington Road Gallipolis Ferry, WV 25515, and Andrea Henderson, Kanawha Valley Road Henderson, WV 25106. Applications must be sent by Monday, July 20.
Orientation for pageant contestants will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 30 at Village Pizza. A Queen’s Party is slated for Aug. 2 and the Queen’s Reception is scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Point Pleasant Moose Lodge. The first pageant practice will be Aug. 7 at the fair grounds.
