Structure fire destroys home

GLENWOOD — Firefighters from the Valley Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire in Glenwood on Monday night.

According to a news release, the fire, which took place on Chandler Ridge Road, was reported at 11:34 p.m. The Valley Volunteer Fire Department, an ambulance crew with the Mason County Emergency Medical Services and firefighters with the Ohio River Road Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.

The single-story, wooden house was fully involved and already on the ground by the time crews arrived. An outbuilding also caught fire, but portions of the building were able to be salvaged. Firefighters were on scene until 2:35 a.m., Tuesday.

According to a news release, there were no injuries reported in the structure fire, and the house was abandoned at the time of the fire. It was currently in the process of being torn down by its owners, Billy and Marsha Dean.
