POINT PLEASANT — Students from the Mason County Vocational Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter recently teamed up with the City of Point Pleasant to perform a service learning project.

Mr. Sam Nibert’s eighth grade Agricultural and Natural Resources I class at the Mason County Career Center has been working on bird houses for the town of Point Pleasant and will be placing them at Krodel Park.

“The students are active partners in service learning projects. This helps students develop strong voices in the community,” Nibert said. He continued to say that the students also play an active role in evaluation of the project. “These are the types of projects that nurture youth empowerment in their community and empower them to take control of their learning, development of leadership skills and take a stand as a valuable decision making student of their communities by pride in directing the project.”
