APPLE GROVE — The Western Conservation District recently hosted a Conservation Poster Contest for grades K-12.

The 2009 Poster Contest theme was “Dig It, The Secrets of Soil.” The National Association of Conservation Districts is using the “Dig It” in partnership with the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and the Soil Science Society of America.

Amee S. Neal of Apple Grove took first place overall in the grades 10-12 category with her award winning depiction of “Dig It!.” Neal received a certificate, award ribbon and a cash award. Neal is the daughter of David and Kelly Neal.
