MASON — The resolution for the Municipal Court Income Tax Refund Offset Program was passed during the recent Town of Mason Council meeting.
During the Nov. 5 meeting, the resolution was discussed, which designates the Municipal Court Clerk for the Town of Mason to be the administrative authority in the Municipal Court Income Tax Refund Offset Program. The resolution states that the Municipal Court Clerk will be responsible for coordination with the West Virginia State Tax Department and will be the courts administrative user. The administrative user will have an administrative authority in the online system to both grant and maintain user access to the Delinquent Citation Collection System on behalf of the court.
In other business:
• Council approved the first reading of the Customer Preauthorized Automatic Transfer of Funds ordinance.
• It was reported that the town Christmas Parade will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. Santa Claus also will be at the town hall following the parade.
• Council agreed to contact three contractors for the cost of upgrading the town hall’s parking lot.
• Pam Thompson came before council in regards to the possibility of putting in a double-wide trailer as an addition to the current Town of Mason library. According to Thompson, the library is in need of additional space for both meetings and computers.
• It was reported that the recent Harvest Festival was a great success. Council agreed to purchase an ad in the Point Pleasant Register to thank the local businesses for their support of the event.
• It was reported by the parks and recreation committee that people are driving on the grass at the park during evening hours.
• The street committee reported that there is a hole, located on Front and Horton Streets, that needs to be repaired.
• A written report from Mindy Kearns was presented to each council member. The report discussed the conference that Kearns attended, which was on House Resolution 413 Mandatory Collective Bargaining for Public Safety Officers.
• It was reported that Sarah Stover and Greg Roush will attend the Municipal Court training.
• Police Chief Jason Gilley informed council of what was needed for the Metro Police Department Legislature approval as well as what boundary line adjustments would need to be made.
• Council discussed the possibility of having an ordinance for old and/or abandoned vehicles.
• Council met in executive session from 7:45-8:15 p.m. to discuss personnel matters.
The next meeting will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19.
