Man arrested for burglary, possession of controlled substance

NEW HAVEN — On Tuesday the New Haven Police Department investigated a breaking and entering that had occurred last week.

The breaking and entering involved a trailer, which had been broken into. Police Chief Rich Gilkey and Assistant Chief Derrick Taylor obtained information on the location of the property that was stolen from the trailer at an apartment in New Haven.

Gilkey and Taylor were given permission to search the residence along with Mason County Sheriffs deputies, Terry Powell and Robert Glenn. During the search, officers found marijuana and scales along with stolen property involving the breaking and entering of the trailer, which was under investigation.

Following the investigation, Mel Charlie Richards was arrested with charges of nighttime burglary and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
