Gospel sing planned
MASON — The Christian Brethren Church in Mason will host a benefit gospel sing at 7 p.m. Saturday to support the Bend Area Gospel Jubilee.
Evelyn Roush, promoter, has been pursuing her calling to promote gospel music since 1983 and one of the first sings was at Christian Brethren Church. Many local folks will remember the overflowing crowd, with many turning away when standing room only lined the church walls and Sunday school rooms were filled.
Roush praises God for blessings the ministry has called her to do. She is grateful to church congregations, supporters and volunteers who, through love offerings, donations and physical help, will celebrate 19 years of jubilee this June 2-6 at the Jackson County Junior Fairgrounds in Cottageville.
Singers for the benefit will be Fred and Helen Lemley, Voices of Faith, Roush Family and Paulette Cundiff.
County gets food money
POINT PLEASANT — Mason County will receive an additional $7,900 for the emergency food programs due to the increased number of unemployed residents in the county.
This selection was made by the national board chaired by the Federal Emergency Management Agency consisting of representatives from the Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Council of Jewish Federations and Catholic Charities USA, which will provide the administration staff and function as the fiscal agent.
A local board will determine how the funds awarded to Mason County are to be distributed among the emergency food programs run by local food service organizations in the area.
