HAMLIN — The Point Pleasant girls soccer team had little trouble with host Lincoln County on Monday night during a 2-0 victory in a non-conference matchup.
The Lady Knights (5-8-2) limited the the Lady Panthers to just one shot on goal during the triumph while managing 17 shots in the process. PPHS also had 15 corner kicks in the decision.
Point outshot the hosts 8-0 in the first half, but the contest remained scoreless entering the intermission. The Lady Knights also had eight more shot attempts than LCHS in the second period, but the guests finally made good on those extra chances.
Miranda Thompson broke the scoreless tie in the 65th minute with a 20-yard goal from the right side, giving PPHS a 1-0 cushion late in the contest. Thompson added an insurance goal — this time a 20-yarder from the right side — just moments later, securing the 2-0 decision for PPHS.
Point Pleasant returns to action Saturday when it hosts its final home contest of the season against Huntington Saint Joseph at 3 p.m.
