POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — The Point Pleasant volleyball team had little luck with visiting Sissonville Thursday night in its season opener following a 12-25, 24-26, 12-25 setback in a non-conference matchup in Mason County.
The host Lady Knights (0-1) struggled to a 13-point loss in the opening game, but made a charge in Game 2 — forcing extra points before ultimately falling by the minimum two points for a 2-0 match deficit. The Lady Indians rode that momentum into the finale to score another 13-point decision and a 3-0 match victory.
Brooke Entingh and Megan Davis both led Point’s service attack with eight points apiece, followed by Beth Porter with six points and Charlie Leach with five points. Entingh also had a team-best four aces in the setback.
Kaci Riffle and Megan Bates both had four points, followed by Hannah Smith with two points and Karissa Cochran with one point.
Riffle and Bates led the net attack with four kills each, followed by Porter and Davis with three kills apiece. Entingh, Leach, Kaitlyn Henry and Payton Hatfield all added two kills each, while Becca Musgrave had one kill.
Riffle had a team-high four blocks, while Entingh and Leach led the passing game with 10 assists and seven assists, respectively. Makennah Lewis led the defense with 14 digs.
