Lady Knights earn split at Sissonville tri-match

SISSONVILLE, W.Va. — The Point Pleasant volleyball team came away from Sissonville High School with a split Thursday night during a tri-match against both the host Lady Indians and Chapmanville.

The Lady Knights (10-11) dropped the opening match to SHS by a 25-11, 25-17 count, but PPHS rallied in the night cap against the Lady Tigers to claim a hard-fought 25-21, 23-25, 25-10 victory.

Megan Bates led the Lady Knights service attack with a combined 17 points and four aces, followed by Beth Porter with 10 points. Charli Leach and Kaci Riffle each added nine points, while Karissa Cochran had seven point and Megan Davis added five points. Leach recorded four aces, while Porter and Riffle each contributed three aces.

Riffle led the net attack with 14 kills and three blocks, while Davis and Leach respectively added eight and six kills. Bates and Porter both chipped in three kills apiece in the split. Bates also had two blocks.

Cochran led the defense with 32 digs and Leach led the passing attack with 14 assists.
