James Herbert Roark, 79, of Millwood, passed away at approximately 11:45 a.m., September 18, 2009, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio, following a short illness.

Mr. Roark was born December 14, 1929 in Greenup, Ky, son of the late William Clarence Roark and Lona Risner Roark. He was enlisted in the United States Navy from 1948 to 1959 where he served on the U.S.S. Fargo. He retired from the Ravenswood Aluminum Corportation in 1992 following 33 years of service where he was a member of the United Steel Workers Local 5668 and held positions as Committeeman and Guide. Mr. Roark was a child of the Father and attended Ravenswood Church of God at Turkey Run Lake. In addition to loving his family and friends, Mr. Roark was an avid sportsman enjoying fishing, hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

He is preceded in death by brothers, Van Roark, Clyde Roark, Carl Roark, Earl Roark, Herald Roark, and Lonzo Roark, as well as sister, Josephine King.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Juanita Louise King Roark; their two sons, James H. (Butch) Roark, Jr. and his wife, Debra Roark of Point Pleasant, and Gary Wayne Roark and his wife, Teresa Lynn Donohew Roark of Evans; sisters, Ruby Ward of Lancaster, Ohio, and Mary Light and husband, Jack Light of Victoria, Va.; and brother, Jesse Roark and wife, Kathy of Cutler, Ohio.

Mr. Roark is also survived by his grandchildren, James Brian Roark of Richmond, Va., Gabriel Scott of Point Pleasant, Jillian Ruth Hamon and husband, Brian Hamon of Fairplan, Justin Grant Roark, attending Fairmont State University, and Adrienne Lee Roark, attending Ohio University; and great grandchildren, Hayden Scott, Noah Litchfield, Bryce Wayne Hamon, Sophie Lynn Hamon, and Levi Grant Hamon. Also recognizing two of many special friends, Ed Lasko of Ravenswood and Pete Roush of Millwood.

Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Church of God in Ravenswood with Rev. Carl Mann officiating. Burial will be in the Ravenswood Cemetery.
