POINT PLEASANT —Two explosions reportedly occurred north of Point Pleasant on Saturday evening with investigators from the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office called to the area.

Investigators from the fire marshal’s office are reportedly on the scene of an explosion involving a tractor trailer north of Point Pleasant on Ohio River Rd. This explosion, along with one at a munitions bunker at the TNT site near the Mason County Fair Grounds, both happened Saturday evening. The fires occurred 10-15 miles apart, according to other media outlets.

These outlets were also reporting gunpowder and explosives were in the tractor trailer and that both the bunker and tractor trailer are owned by the same individual who is apparently out of town.

No word on if the fires were intentionally set or heat related. Local firefighters brought both fires under control. It remains unclear if any injuries were reported as a result of these explosions.

The Point Pleasant Register will provide updates to this developing story as they become available.
