Ground has been broken on the new facility for the Point Pleasant High School Wrestling Team. The PPHS Wrestling Boosters, armed with donations from the community, are raising an estimated $37,000 to build an extension on to the existing locker room facility at PPJ/SHS for the wrestlers who have no place to call home despite winning championship after championship. Pictured is David Rollins donating his time and use of his equipment to start construction on the project. Also pictured, Point Pleasant Mayor Billings (far left) presenting the Point Pleasant High School Wrestling Team with a proclamation for their achievements this season. The team are Cardinal Conference Champions, Region IV Champions and were crowned AA/A State Wrestling Champions for a third consecutive year. Also pictured, Assistant Coach Dave Withrow, Coach John Bonecutter and City Clerk Amber Tatterson. For those wishing to donate money, time or labor to the construction project, contact Bonecutter at Leon Elementary at 304-458-1710, E.B. Starcher at the W.Va. State Police Detachment at 304-675-0850 or Booster’s Secretary Deborah Powell at 304-553-2787.
