POINT PLEASANT — Mason County Commissioners will soon host a County Commissioners’ Association of West Virginia (CCAWV) roundtable meeting.

During Thursday’s commission meeting, Mason County Administrator John Gerlach announced that the commission would host a roundtable meeting on Monday, Nov. 9 for the Region Nine county commissions, which includes Mason, Roane, Putnam, Kanawha and Jackson Counties.

The meeting will take place in the annex auditorium of the Mason County Courthouse in Point Pleasant and will run from 1-3 p.m. There are 10 regional roundtable meetings across the state each year in November and December. County commissioners, other elected officials and legislatures in each region are invited to attend.

The CCAWV was formed in the late 1950s, and started as an association of commissioners from across the state with officers, a board of directors and numerous committees. The mission of the CCAWV is to “maintain a statewide agency for the purpose of promoting the interest and general welfare of local county government through a variety of communications tools; to represent county government before the West Virginia Legislature, administrative agencies and the federal government; to educate the public about the value and need for county programs and services; and to facilitate the exchange of problems, ideas and solutions among county officials.”

• Commissioners set the November meetings for 4 p.m. Nov. 12 and 4 p.m. Nov. 19. There will not be a meeting on Nov. 26 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

The next meeting will be 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12.
