POINT PLEASANT — Mason County Commissioners unanimously approved appointments to the Mason County Day Report Center Board on Thursday.
The agencies that must be represented on the board include the sheriff or chief of police, prosecutor, defense attorney, a member of the board of education, members representing victims rights, a member with a background in mental health care and services and at large members appointed by the county commission.
For the new Mason County Community Corrections Board, David Anthony, sheriff; Damon Morgan, Jr., prosecuting attorney; R.F. Stein, Jr., defense attorney; Jeremy Vickers, defense attorney; Teresa Warner, board of education member; Greg Haddox, victim representative; Samantha Fooce, victim representative; Lois Austin, mental health representative; Miles Epling, member at large; David Nibert, member at large; and Josh Holland, member at large (pastor of Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church) have been selected to serve.
In addition, Circuit Court Judges will be informed of all meetings held. The first meeting is slated for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the Mason County Day Report Center.
In other business:
• Deputy Eric Lynch of the Mason County Sheriff’s Department discussed the possibly of creating an ordinance regarding procedures for clandestine labs. He presented the commission with an example of such an ordinance from Kanawha County.
Commissioner Miles Epling said that the ordinance copy would need to be reviewed by Prosecuting Attorney Damon Morgan before any action could be taken.
• Commissioners signed a proclamation, which declared Oct. 2 as West Virginia Breast Cancer Awareness Day and October 2009 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
• Commissioners signed a proclamation that declared Oct. 4-10 as National 4-H Week.
• County Administrator John Gerlach and Epling agreed to serve on the Emergency Homeless Shelter Board.
• Commissioners approved the purchase card agreement.
• The meeting adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
The next meeting will be 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15.
