POINT PLEASANT — A reception was held Tuesday night at the Mason County Career Center to honor the 2008-2009 Teacher of the Year, Service Personnel of the Year, Emeritus Professional of the Year, and Emeritus Service Personnel of the Year.

Those receiving the awards were Judy Browning, Teacher of the Year; Diana Bodkin, Service Personnel of the Year; Gary Fields, Emeritus Professional of the Year; and Roy Martin, Emeritus Service Personnel of the Year. Ohio Valley Bank sponsored the awards given.

“This is quite an honor, to be recognized for these awards,” Matthew Thompson, board member, said.

Following the reception, the board members had a regular session board meeting at the career center.

A big update for the Absolute Auction of the Point Pleasant Middle School was given with owner, Mr. R.F. Stein, Jr. of Drop Tine Properties, LLC., in attendance. Rick Pearson will serve as the auctioneer.

“The property will be offered in parcels and as a whole in an effort to maximize the sale proceeds,” Stein said. “We don’t want to leave the small business owners out of this auction.”

Pearson agreed with Stein adding, “opportunities like this don’t come around that often, especially since this is an absolute auction.”

The board reported that the auction is moving forward and is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. The school board will retain the school bus garage.

He is also excited about the NEOLA, Inc. “Electronic Management of Board Policies.” According to Thompson, school board policies will now be computerized and more easily accessed by the board members as well as the community. Mr. Sam Kalbaugh was present to give this report to the board members in attendance.

In other news, financial statements will soon be published. Mr. Chris Campbell, Chief of School Business Official and Treasurer, presented the report at the Tuesday evening meeting.
