POINT PLEASANT — The 2009 Point Pleasant Battle Days Pageant will celebrate its 10th year on Sunday, Sept. 27.
The pageant, under the direction of Brandy Sweeney, has been and continues to be the biggest fundraiser for the Mason County Toys for Kids Association.
“Our pageant has grown from a small stage at the State Theater to the big auditorium at the high school,” Sweeney said. She also mentioned that each year, the contestants really enjoy themselves and work hard during pageant rehearsals.
During this year’s pageant, all former queens will be featured in a production number along with this year’s contestants. The reigning Battle Days Royalty also will play a part in the pageant before crowning their successors.
Former Miss Battle Days Queens include the very first queen, Brooke Cromley, 2000; Ashley Patterson, 2001; Carletta Blake, 2002; Lindsey Scarberry, 2003; Mallory Haye, 2004; Tiffany (Crum) Hussell, 2005; Cassie Heib, 2006; and Michaela Williamson, 2007. Payton Whitt is the reigning Miss Battle Days Queen 2008.
Former Young Miss Battle Days Queens include the very first queen, Delyssa Huffman, 2000; Whitney Scarberry, 2001; Tiffany (Crum) Hussell, 2002; Katrina Keefer, 2003; Summer Stover, 2004; Heather Crum, 2005; Capri Nolan, 2006; and Devin Cottrill, 2007. Kayla Thomas is the reigning Young Miss Battle Days Queen 2008.
Former Junior Miss Battle Days Queens include the very first queen, Ashten Crank, 2006. Aubrey Lewis is the reigning Junior Miss Battle Days Queen 2008.
Former Little Miss Battle Days Queens include the very first queen, Emily Kitchen, 2000; Kayla Thomas, 2001; Deeanna Sayre, 2002; Karli Gandee, 2003; Delaney Bronosky, 2004; McKinley Bumgarner, 2005; Katie Henderson, 2006; and McKenna Bronosky, 2007. Sarah Deem is the reigning Little Miss Battle Days Queen 2008.
Former Little Mister Battle Days Kings include the very first king, Noah Searls, 2000; Denver Thomas, 2001; Tyzic Meadows, 2002; Charles Adkins, 2003; Braydon Ralbusky, 2004; Austin Adams, 2005; and Casey Neville, 2007. Carson Taylor is the reigning Little Mister Battle Days King 2008.
It is asked that all former royalty attend and participate in the 2009 Battle Days Pageant that will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Lillian and Paul Wedge Auditorium at Point Pleasant Junior Senior High School. For questions about former royalty, contact Delyssa Huffman at 304-593-8998.
Sweeney said that she is very excited about this year and looks forward to seeing who will walk away with the 2009 crowns. She also thanks all those who have sponsored the pageant for 10 years and who have helped make a better Christmas for so many kids in the area who, otherwise, would not have a Christmas morning.
