POINT PLEASANT — Pumpkins and spooky decorations can be spotted around the area as Mason County prepares for Halloween.
And in a few days little ghosts, goblins, witches, movie stars and more will come out as youngsters take part in Trick-or-Treat festivities. Local municipalities as well as the Mason County Commission recently set Trick-or-Treat times.
For all areas outside of municipalities, Trick-or-Treat will be Thursday, Oct. 29 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The City of Point Pleasant also has set Trick-or-Treat from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29. In the Towns of Mason, New Haven and Hartford Trick-or-Treat will be 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29. While trick-or-treaters in the Town of Leon will participate in festivities from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29.
In addition, the town hall in Leon will be passing out candy during Trick-or-Treat. The annual Halloween Block Party at the Point Pleasant Riverfront Park also is set to take place on Thursday, Oct. 29 from 6-8 p.m. Denise Scarberry, event organizer, described the block party as an event that the entire family can enjoy. Activities on tap for this year’s block party include games, karaoke, inflatables, and haunted hayrides. There also will be a costume judging contest. Free food of hot dogs, pop and candy will be available as well. Donations of dog and cat food, which will go toward the area animal shelters, also will be collected during the event.
