GALLIPOLIS, Ohio — The Gallia Academy golf team came away with top honors Tuesday night after posting a 33-stroke victory over the field during a non-conference tri-match at Cliffside Golf Course in the Old French City.
The Blue Devils posted five of the top six individual scores at the event, which led to a winning team tally of 159. Point Pleasant finished second with a 192, while host River Valley came in third with a 206.
GAHS junior Marcus Moore earned medalist honors on the day after firing a 2-over par round of 38 on the back nine. Teammate Dares Hamid and Logan Sheets of RVHS tied for second place with identical rounds of 39.
Taae Hamid and Miles Cornwell rounded out the winning Blue Devil tally with matching rounds of 41. Zach Graham added a 42 and Bruce Moreaux chipped in a 45 to complete things for Gallia Academy.
Kelsey Allbright led PPHS with a 44, followed by Bryce Tayengco with a 46 and Matthew Martin with a 49. Rhett Lanier rounded out the Black Knights’ scoring with a 53, while Hunter Holcomb and Logan Hill respectively fired rounds of 61 and 67.
Zach Morris followed Sheets with a 50, while Evan Justus and Cliff Chapman rounded out the Raiders’ tally with respective efforts of 56 and 61. Grant Gilmore and Cameron Marcum also fired scores of 65 and 67, respectively.
