NEW CONCORD, Ohio — And then there was one.
For the second consecutive year Hannah Watts will be the Blue Angels lone representative at the Division II state Track and Field Championship at Jesse Owens Stadium. Watts earned the Region 7 championship in the 800m run Saturday at Muskingum University, posting a time of 2:13.89.
Watts had the third best time in the 400m dash preliminaries but did not run in the finals on Saturday.
The Division II Region 7 girls team title was won by West Holmes with 98 points, followed by Indian Valley (55) and Carrollton (39). Gallia Academy tied with Philo and Sandy Valley for 17th place with 13 points, while River Valley failed to score.
Gallia Academy’s other three points came from Mary Watts, who finished seventh in the 3200m run (12:10.07), and Taylor Queen, who finished eighth in the long jump (15-07.5).
Also competing for the Blue Angels were Madi Oiler, who finished 11th in the 300m hurdles (51.29) and Kathleen Allen finished 14th in the 100m hurdles (17.44).
The Gallia Academy 4x200m relay team of Madi Oiler, Haleigh Caldwell, Taylor Queen and Hannah Watts finished 11th (1:51.46), the 4x800m relay team of Madison Holley, Mesa Polcyn, Mary Watts and Hannah Watts was 12th (10:11.33), and the 4x100m relay team of Queen, Haleigh Caldwell, Jalea Caldwell and Kathleen Allen was 13th (53.33).
The Lady Raiders were represented by Rachael Smith, who was ninth in the 100m dash (13.11) and 11th in the 200m dash (27.00).
