A southern Ohio woman has reportedly confessed to a robbery that occurred in September. Leigha Paige Maynard, 20, of 2988 County Road 2, Chesapeake is charged with robbery, a felony of the second degree.
Lawrence County Sheriff’ Jeff Lawless said his department made the arrest in the Metro Cab Company that occurred on Sept. 10 of this year. He said an outstanding warrant was in place for Maynard, and that she arrived at the Lawrence County Municipal Court Friday where she turned herself in. He said detectives interviewed Maynard and she confessed to her involvement in the robbery.
On that date three people entered the cab company located at 132 County Road 410 in South Point, Ohio, wearing dark and camouflaged clothing with bandanas covering parts of their faces, carrying what appeared to be paintball and pellet guns. Lawless said one of the suspects shot the attendant with a paintball gun. The suspects took some envelopes that contained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the building on foot.
“Detectives working the case developed suspects and obtained arrest warrants early in the investigation,” Lawless said. “They have been able to stay just out of our reach but we hope to make more arrests soon.”
While arrests are in place for two other suspects, Lawless said those names are not being released at this time because detectives are following up on leads that may lead to their capture.
“This was a serious situation that left the attendant injured by means of a dangerous weapon,” Lawless said.
Maynard was arraigned Friday on the robbery charge and bond was set at $25,000. She will be housed in the Lawrence County Jail pending future court dates unless she is released on bond.
