School board approves new hires, resignations

POINT PLEASANT — Resignations and new employees for the 2013-2014 year were among the main topics of discussion at the recent special personnel meeting of the Mason County School Board.
Board president Randy Searls called the meeting to order. Also present were vice-president Greg Fowler, and members Thomas Nunnery, Paul Sayre and Dale Shobe.
Searls recommended the board approve the resignation of Sherry Williamson, counselor at New Haven Elementary. The motion carried. The board also voted to approve the resignations of the following individuals: Kristin Hoffman, LD/BD/MI teacher at New Haven Elementary; Cheryl Oldaker, cook at New Haven Elementary, who has retired; Erin Tolliver, junior varsity cheerleading coach at Point Pleasant High School.
Searls recommended the board approve the employment of Bo Burgess, LD/BD/MI/AU/LA teacher at Point Pleasant High School. The motion carried. The board also voted to approve the employment of the following individuals for the 2013-2014 year: Bo Burgess, LD/BD/MI/AU/LA teacher at Point Pleasant High School; Keith Hill, head varsity soccer coach at Point Pleasant High School — pending WVSSAC and WVDE certification; Julie Bibbee, volleyball coach at Point Pleasant Junior High School; Amy Layne, volleyball coach at Wahama Junior and Senior High Schools — pending WVSSAC and WVDE certification.
The board will meet again to conduct its regular business at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, at the high school. A special policy meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, at the high school, and a regular business meeting at 6 p.m., Tuesday, August 27, at the high school.
