POINT PLEASANT — Several local exhibitors have taken home banners for grand and reserve champion market and showmanship, among other awards at various livestock shows at the Mason County Fair.
On Tuesday afternoon, Kauri Porter and Tanner Durst showed the grand and reserve champion market goats, respectively. In addition, winners of the showmanship awards were as follows: Market Goat Junior Showmanship, Parker Henderson, first place; Kira Henderson, second place; Mariah Young, third place. Market Goat Senior Showmanship, Kate Henderson first place; Austin Juelfs, second place; Mackenzie McClure, third place.
On Tuesday evening, the market lambs took over the show ring. Starting with the Special Market Lambs, the Grand Champion was shown by Shaea Bryant and Helper Kaitlyn Dunn, while the Reserve Champion was shown by Ashley Morrison and Helper Alexis Meadows.
During the Market Lamb Show, Alexis Meadows and Haley Sturgeon showed the grand and reserve champions, respectively. In addition, winners of the showmanship awards were: Junior Market Lamb Showmanship, Madilyn Keefer, first place; Hayley Keefer, second place; Cheyenne Durst, third place. Senior Market Lamb Showmanship, Haley Sturgeon, first place, Kaitlyn Dunn, second place, Alexis Meadows, third place. Also, Alexis Meadows was the winner of the Jack Sturgeon Award presented by Heather Thompson, Haley Sturgeon and Heidi Wood.
During Monday’s Market Hog Show, Christian Pyles and Kaci Riffle showed the grand and reserve markets, respectively. In addition, winners of the showmanship awards were as follows: Junior Market Hog Showmanship, Jessica Raynes, third place; Levi Wright, first place; and Jayvin Roush, second place. Senior Market Hog Showmanship winners, Dalton Dangerfield, third place; Karlee Edmonds, first place; and Jeremy Tate, second place. Levi Wright was presented with the Ashley McDaniel Memorial Award by Linda Roush. The Jason Eades Memorial Scholarship Award went to Kiersten Kelly and was presented by Doug Eades and Susan Eades.
