ASHTON — As of Tuesday afternoon, deputies with the Mason County Sheriff’s Department were still looking for a man accused of making threats and firing a gun when deputies arrived at a Jolly Rd. home in the Ashton area.

A news media outlet of of Huntington reported deputies were called to the home at 3 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The outlet reported Jonathan Jeffers, 30, address unreported, allegedly had a gun and was making threats - this according to a caller to 911.

Once deputies arrived on scene, Jeffers allegedly fired a shot and then ran away into the woods.

Anyone with any information on Jeffers’ whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Mason County Sheriff’s Department at 304-675-3838. No further information was available about this case at press time. Tuesday afternoon, the sheriff’s department reported deputies were still actively searching for Jeffers.

Assisting the sheriff’s department is the West Virginia State Police.
