COTTAGEVILLE — One of the premiere gospel music events returns June 2-7 to the Jackson County Junior Fairgrounds.

Organized by New Haven’s Evelyn Roush, the 24th annual Bend Area Gospel Jubilee is ready to kick off with singers from near and far — both locally and nationally recognized. Admission is always free, but a love offering will be lifted each day.

According to Roush, prayers and many hours of dedication have gone into the plans for this year’s jubilee which is believed to be one of the largest. More than 50 local and national groups and soloists are scheduled to perform for the week plus preaching by Evangelist Calvin Ray Evans will happen on Tuesday night.

Also, Randy Parsons, Don McCloud, Ron Shamblin, David Washington, Marco Pritt, Leland VanMeter and Kevin Gibson will participate in tag team preaching Wednesday night. These preachers will have 10 minutes on stage — an annual event which is becoming much requested at the jubilee.

Camping is available each day and concessions will be by the Statts Mills Willing Workers 4-H Club.

Also, an auction will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday on the fairgrounds, and Roush said donated items for this auction are appreciated. Proceeds go to support the jubilee.

Singing starts each day at 5 p.m. and runs late into the night. No “rain outs” and stage and seating space are under shelter. There are bleachers available or bring your lawn chair.

The jubilee begins June 2 with a fellowship supper.
