POINT PLEASANT — The most recent meeting of Mason County Schools included votes on personnel matters and expenditures.


School board members attending the meeting were Paul F. Sayre, Dale Shobe, Randy Searls, Tom Nunnery, Greg D Fowler. The following motions were passed:


Approved parental Leave for Heather Pearson, teacher, Point Pleasant Primary School, for a maximum of 12 weeks unpaid leave. Approved family Medical Leave for Brianne Solomon, teacher, Hannan Jr/Sr High, for a maximum of 12 weeks intermittent, unpaid leave.


Accepted the resignation of Okey Livingston, Maintenance Substitute, effective April 27. Approved the employment of Sherry Brinker, Jessica Peck, Karrie Peck, Amy Short, Leah Starkey, and Denise Tate, (pending CIB clearances) as substitute aides for the 2013-14 school year. County will be the funding source. Approve the employment of Angela Lanier, (pending CIB clearance) as substitute secretary for the 2013-14 school year. County will be the funding source.


Approved the employment of James Jordan, junior high football coach, Point Pleasant Jr/Sr High, effective for the 2014-15 school year. County will be the funding source. Approved the employment of Angel Hoffman, varsity cheerleading coach, Wahama Jr/Sr High, effective 2014-15 school year. County will be the funding source.


Approved the ratification of orders issued, transfers, and supplements. Check numbers 87186 through 87228 and purchase card numbers 531 through 576 in the total amount of $413,099.72.


Approved a special business meeting to be held May 30 at Mason County Career Center/Hartley Building, 5:30 p.m., to approve FY15 preliminary budget.


Approved the superintendent’s recommendation that Student ECO-13/14-12, must be expelled for a minimum of 12 consecutive months from May 6, 2014 to May 5, 2015, subject to terms set forth within WV Code 18A-5-1a, paragraph (g).


Approved the Superintendent’s recommendation that Student ECO-13/14-13, must be expelled for a minimum of twelve consecutive months from at least May 6, 2014 to May 5, 2015, subject to terms set forth within WV Code 18A-5-1a, paragraph (g).
