NEW HAVEN — Making amazing music can lead to an amazing adventure. Just ask the Tiger Music Orff Ensemble.

Comprised of students in grades 3-6 at New Haven Elementary, the ensemble has been chosen to represent the United States at the International Society of Music Educators biannual conference in Brazil this July.

The 25-member ensemble was chosen from hundreds of submissions from 80 countries and will be one of the groups representing the U.S. at what is considered the “Olympics of music conferences.”

Tiger Music Orff Ensemble recently performed at the Mason County Area Chamber of Commerce’s 68th annual dinner with Director Rachel Reynolds leading the group. Reynolds also spoke to those gathered about the trip to Brazil and the fundraising efforts currently under way to get the kids to South America for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Reynolds has established a page on the website “go fund me,” which can be found at www.gofundme.com/6073gg. This site allows people to donate money to the group to help with the trip’s expenses. The goal is $20,000, and so far $700 has been raised. There is also a link to this page on the website of New Haven Elementary, www.edline.net/pages/New_Haven_Elementary_School.

If anyone would like to donate to this unique adventure to promote music made by these students in Mason County, visit the “go fund me” or New Haven Elementary School websites.
