A cool and windy day didn’t keep away a crowd on a mission to attend the Second Annual Courage Walk for Epilepsy Awareness held recently at Riverfront Park. All funds collected went to the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Cincinnati and Columbus, which helps families in the area with things like purchasing expensive medications to treat the disease. The event was started by the Country Stars 4H Club which includes Ezekiel Ross, 12, who attends Hannan Junior High School. Ross also has epilepsy as does Mark Kincaid, 11, a sixth grader at Roosevelt Elementary. Luckily, both are two years seizure-free. Both Ross and Kincaid, pictured at the front of the pack for last weekend’s walk, kicked off the walk with a ribbon cutting. Pictured are moments before and after the ribbon cutting as “Team Ezekiel,” “Team Mark” and community participants begin the trek along the river walk and back down Main Street. 4-H clubs also helped distribute water to walkers and prior to the event the Hannan Dance Team performed. Event organizers gave a shout out of appreciation to AEP River Operations and all those in the community who helped make the event a success.
