Bond set in shooting case

POINT PLEASANT — Bond has been set in the case of an Apple Grove man accused of shooting a man from Winfield. Mason County Magistrate Judge Gail Roush set a $100,000 bond for Michael A. Kenney, 43, of Apple Grove, who is charged with malicious wounding. Kenney is accused of shooting Donald R. McGhee II, 35, in the chest at Kenney’s residence at 1360 Valley Drive in Apple Grove on Tuesday. Earlier this week, McGhee was listed as being in fair condition by a spokesperson from Cabell Huntington Hospital. The Mason County Sheriff’s Department is the lead investigating agency with assistance from the Mason County Post of the West Virginia State Police. A statement from the sheriff’s department stated the incident stemmed from a domestic violence incident involving the victim and his ex-girlfriend.

Update on meth case

POINT PLEASANT —A Glenwood woman has been ordered to the Diagnostic and Classification Division of Lakin Correctional Center, or other similar facility, for no more than 45 days, after entering a plea of guilty to the felony offense of delivery of a controlled substance. Ariscelene Fowler recently appeared before Judge David W. Nibert, who ordered her into the custody of the Commissioner of Corrections, where she will undergo examinations, diagnosis and classification, according to the order filed last week in the office of Circuit Clerk Bill Withers. After this period of incarceration, and the judge’s receipt of the report from the diagnostic division, Fowler is to reappear before Nibert for sentencing. Fowler was indicted by a grand jury in September 2013, along with three other defendants, following an investigation from December 2012 through March 23, 2013, that included an allegation of attempting to operate a meth lab. Fowler was represented by Attorney Michael Eachus. The state was represented by Prosecuting Attorney R. Craig Tatterson.
