Unsung heroes sometimes are the ones who make it possible for others to sing. Barbara Mitchell, a staff member at Wahama Jr./Sr. High School and supporter of the Wahama Choir, is one of those people who make that music for students to shine during Wahama Dinner Theatre productions. Mitchell, who sits in the dinner theater pit band, was celebrated by students and choir boosters this week for not only her 65th birthday, but her involvement in their lives. Choir students and the choir boosters raised enough money to send Mitchell to see the Broadway hit, “The Lion King” in Washington, D.C. Pictured are those students and boosters presenting Mitchell with her gift and birthday cupcakes at this week’s rehearsal for the Wahama Dinner Theatre which takes place this weekend. Also pictured, students on stage dancing to the music created by the pit band which is full of volunteers like Mitchell who donate their time and talent each year to the production.
