POINT PLEASANT — An early morning fire destroyed a home and injured five people, three of them critically.

According to Point Pleasant Fire Chief Jeremy Bryant, his department was called to the scene of a two-story residential fire about 7:30 a.m. on Saturday on 13th St.

Upon arrival, Bryant said firefighters found five people with burns who were transported to Pleasant Valley Hospital for treatment of their injures. There were three adults and two children injured. Bryant said three of the patients were critical and later transported by emergency air medical helicopter to Cabell Huntington Hospital. The two patients at PVH were treated and then released, Bryant added.

No official word on how the fire started though the office of West Virginia State Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.

The names of the family have not been released.
