POINT PLEASANT — James Shannon Williamson has died as a result of injuries sustained in an ATV accident just before the new year, according to the Mason County Sheriff’s Department. Bethany Shay Slinde, who was also involved in the accident, remains hospitalized.
Slinde, 38, of Point Pleasant, and Williamson, 39, of Huntington, had been transported after the accident by emergency air medical helicopter to St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington.
A group of the pair’s friends has come together to try to ease the financial strain imposed by the incident. The group has organized an evening of music to raise funds for the medical expenses of Slinde and funeral expenses of Williamson. The event is slated for the evening of Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Moose Lodge #731 in Point Pleasant, and all are welcome.
An organizer said that doors at the lodge will open at 6 p.m., with music acts starting at around 8 p.m. There will be a $10 cover charge and raffles and a 50/50 drawing, with all proceeds going to the cause.
The evening will include an acoustic set, with the country and alternative country sounds of Brittany Franklin and Jack Cochran, who will kick-off the music at 8 p.m., followed by Dax Hill and Derek Newell.
The band Blue Z will play at 9 p.m. The rest of the musical line-up for the evening will be as follows: the rock group 40lb Snapper, with Parry Casto, Rodney Parsons, Jared Stephens and Bill Galloway, playing at 10 p.m.; the pop/reggae group, DUB V’s, with Joey D., Jeremy Russell, Josh Billings and Dana Gillespie, playing at 11 p.m.; the funk/R&B ensemble the MFB, with Parry Casto, Travis Riffle, Bassist X, Nate Blaine and Shawn Hesson, playing at midnight.
Organizers have named the event “For Friends” and have established a Facebook page under the same name.
Moose Lodge #731 is located at 18 Kiwanis Blvd in Point Pleasant.
