Sentencing in meth case
POINT PLEASANT — Ronald Blanchard, 61, Point Pleasant, has been sentenced to one year in jail with the condition of home confinement after entering a plea to attempt to commit a felony. Blanchard appeared before Judge David W. Nibert this month for sentencing, according to the court docket filed in the office of Circuit Clerk Bill Withers. Back in May 2012, Blanchard was indicted by a grand jury for operate a clandestine drug laboratory, possession of altered pseudoephedrine, conspiracy. The indictment was a result of an investigation by the Point Pleasant Police Department in April 2012 when officers were alerted to a possible methamphetamine lab being operated at a home on Garfield Ave. At that time, personnel with the PPPD reportedly discovered alleged components of a meth lab though at the time of inspection, it didn’t appear to be active. Representing the state in the case was Prosecuting Attorney Craig Tatterson. Attorney Bryan Cromley represented Blanchard.
The Mason County Sheriff’s Department reports the following arrests: Jeremy L. Buck, 34, Leon, fugitive from justice, arrested by Deputy Cavender. Tara Sowards, 32, Point Pleasant, conspiracy to commit a felony, grand larceny, arrested by Deputy Cavender. Norman Dillon, 41, Point Pleasant, conspiracy to commit a felony, grand larceny, entering without breaking, destruction of property, arrested by Deputy M. Stewart. Stephen W. Kidd, 46, Point Pleasant, DUI, arrested by Deputy Spencer. Carla J. Huff, 51, Gallipolis Ferry, six counts identity theft, arrested by Deputy M. Stewart. Robert W. Matheny, 33, Leon, conspiracy to commit a felony, grand larceny, entering without breaking, felony destruction of property, arrested by Deputy M. Stewart. Michael A. Eads, 25, Leon, third degree sexual assault, arrested by Cpl. Terry. Paul E. Hardee, Jr., 19, Buffalo, daytime burglary, arrested by Cpl. Powell.
The Point Pleasant Police Department recently released its monthly activity report for November: There were 50 citations written, two felony arrests, three DUI arrests, nine accident reports taken, eight complaints taken, two warning citations given. The following were arrested and transported to the Western Regional Jail by PPPD personnel: Allysia K. Rice, capias. Karla R. Stewart, DUI. Eugene Denapoli, fleeing DUI, fleeing with bodily injury.
