MASON —Two visitors from Triad Engineering attended the recent Mason Town Council Meeting, to introduce phase two of the town’s water distribution and waste-water treatment improvements.


Amanda Sutphin talked to council about the water distribution system, and Jack Ramsey explained plans for the wastewater treatment plant and collection systems improvements in the phase. Council member Shelly Allensworth made a motion to authorize Triad to submit an application to the West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council for funds. Council voted, and the motion carried.


Also present at the meeting were members Ralph Ross, Bob Wing, Emily Henry, Shelly Allensworth, and recorder Deann Russell. In addition to Sutphin and Ramsey from Triad, visitors were as follows: Larry Daniel; Matt Scott; Eric Fruth; Colton McKinney; Darlene Roach; Kathy VanMeter; Becky Pearson.


Larry Daniel talked to council about Mason’s Neighborhood Watch Program, inviting members to attend. He said the next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m., October 15 at the town’s community room.


In other business, Council member Henry spoke to council about the upcoming fall festival; she said she is still in the process of scheduling events. Recorder Deann Russell made a second reading of the flood plain ordinance, and council voted to accept the reading. Henry made a motion to set October 31 as Trick or Treat night for Mason, with a start time of 6 p.m. and an end time of 7 p.m. Council voted and the motion passed.


Members of council decided to discuss hiring a new police officer for the town at the next regular meeting, as well as the possibility of purchasing a new cell phone. Council also agreed to discuss the Community Work Experience Program which operates though the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. Member Allensworth made a motion to donate $100 to the Wahama Scholarship 5K run. Council voted to approve the donation.
